About Allen Sutherland

Anishinaabek Historian, Knowledge Keeper, and Healer

Allen Sutherland, also known by his spirit name Waabshkii Masinazoot Michtaatim (White Spotted Horse), of the Bizhiw Doodem (Lynx Clan), Anishinaabe, and member of Skownan First Nation, Treaty 2 Territory. 

Allen is an esteemed Anishinaabe Elder, Traditional Knowledge Keeper, Healer, and Historian whose work in the public has made a generational difference in Canada. 

Allen’s strong Anishinaabek roots run deep and always present, leaving him in the unique position of being a connection between both Traditional and Contemporary World. Allen had the opportunity of working within First Nations, Federal and Provincial Governments, including grassroots community work for over 30 years.

Allen provides facilitation and training where he is often a sought-after resources person on the history and culture of the Anishinaabe of Turtle Island. He is well known for his creation of the Canadian Indigenous Timeline Posters and the Red River de Metis posters. Allen is living out his life purpose as Anishinaabek Historian, Traditional Knowledge Keeper and as a Healer with his growing healing bundles. 

Allen is currently the Knowledge Keeper East of 2 Child & Family Service Agencies with Treaty 2 Territory.

Allen is the Lodge Keeper of his Ginew Healing Lodge, and lives in Treaty 1 Territory, Cooks Creek, Manitoba. 

Ginew Healing Lodge is located on the property of Knowledge Keeper Allen Sutherland at Cooks Creek, Manitoba.

The Healing Lodge is 24.3 kilometres from the perimeter Highway 59 North, Winnipeg, Manitoba

About Ginew Healing Lodge

Ginew Healing Lodge is located on the property of Elder Allen Sutherland at Cooks Creek,
Manitoba. The Healing Lodge is adjacent closely to the main residence for access to the
washroom and kitchen. The grounds are 9.5 acres that are wooded along a beautiful creek
with walking trails. The Ginew Healing Lodge is unique in that provides traditional ways and
modern healing ways. The practices, culture and values of the Anishinaabe is provided
here. There are many traditional ceremonies at the Ginew Healing Lodge, that includes
space for professional development and training.
